There are many factors that may lead to additional problems after a root canal therapy. After the tooth reveals signs of a disease for the second time, our dental team will generally recommend an endodontic retreatment. Similar to the original root canal treatment, root canal retreatment is performed to clean the canals of the tooth and eliminate infection. We may suggest the GentleWave® system or other cutting-edge disinfection technologies to deliver fluids effectively throughout the root canal system, removing infection and preserving essential tooth tissue. How Does Root Canal Retreatment Work?
Your endodontic retreatment will be performed in our office using anesthesia to numb the needed area. If the procedure is extensive or if you have dental fears, stronger sedation options could be used. Once you are prepped, a team member will reopen the tooth and take out the filling material placed during the previous root canal. The inside of the tooth, including each of the root tips, will then be completely disinfected. After the tooth is cleaned and analyzed, it will be strengthened with a new filling material and then sealed. A dental restoration (crown or bridge) is generally placed over the tooth for protection and strength.

AMAZING! I had a root canal done at my regular dentist over 5 years ago. However, there were canals and some spaces that weren't filled and bacteria has taken up residency, creating an infection, and causing me PAIN lol. Those darn bacteria. Anyways, I was referred to Dr. Cohenca and staff for endodontic retreatment. I was able to get an appointment the next day after referral and was so excited to finally get some relief. The staff are wonderful! The office is clean and visually appealing. I had a great time from start to finish. Dr. Cohenca explains everything to you to make sure you know what's going, what to expect, and so forth. With my insurance, I paid $300 out of pocket + an optional $400 for a CT scan that was not covered. The CT scan offers more details than the XR and I chose to get it for reassurance that all the nooks and crannies would be filled in order to reduce reinfection, cause the pain just sucks. AND I was also given a USB with the imaging on it so I could review it when I got home. I received a blanket and noise-cancelling headphones so I could jam out to my 90s rap playlist. There's also a live camera and you can watch the whole thing, which was SO COOL. This was the most relaxed I've felt in the past week that I was fighting not to fall asleep! OVERALL, SUCH AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE! You will be in great hands!

I was referred to Prime Endodontics and Doctor Cohenca due to pain after a crown prep procedure. I called on Friday and was able to get a same day appointment. Everyone was extremely welcoming and made for a very relaxing experience. Dr Cohenca did a thorough exam, and then confirmed I needed a root canal. The procedure was done the same day, in less than 2h. Dr Cohenca and all the staff went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable, and explained everything in detail. For a procedure that gets such a bad reputation, I have to say it was one of the easiest and most comfortable dental appointments I ever had. Will definitely be using them in the future if another issue with pain occurs.
