"I had my second root canal in a week performed by a very caring and skilled Dr. Cohenca. I can honestly say the experience was much easier and painless than I feared. In fact it was a lot like getting a cavity filled, just takes longer, about an hour. I was able to leave the office and go for a pain-free cold smoothie on the way home! The Dr. clearly explained the procedure with images, and I could see the before and after X-rays. He was assisted by skilled and compassionate professionals who made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure. The front desk staff is very competent as well."

"Tooth pain is no fun. After my regular dentist had trouble locating an Endodontist that could help me in a timely manner, I called Prime Endodontics in Kirkland. Dr. Cohenca and his staff were wonderful. From scheduling to procedure to post-op phone call, everything was just a phenomenal experience. So much so that I haven't stopped recommending them to my coworkers and anyone I come in contact with! Dr. Shahd Nawari was my endodontist and she did an excellent job. Going back to work the next day, I didn't need to take additional ibuprofen to get through the day. I can even eat on that side, just not hard or sticky stuff until I get my permanent crown. All in all, I am very very happy with Dr. Nawari and her staff. "I’ve seen Dr. Cohenca for a root canal and to treat root reabsorption. He’s the best! His bedside manner is awesome- he explains everything he’s going to do and makes sure to answer any questions you have. I really appreciate that they give you headphones to listen to music while they work on you- it helps my anxiety a lot. They also give you a little goodie bag after your procedure and call you to follow up and see how you’re doing. The staff are all really nice as well. Highly recommend this office!"

"I had a really pleasant experience with my root canal here! I was freaking out for weeks prior to my appointment because the dentist is a big fear of mine but they took really good care of me. Julie the receptionist took multiple phone calls with a bunch of questions from me, which I feel like other dental offices would be long annoyed by. Dr. Nawari even took the time to personally call me back and answer some questions which i dont see much doctors doing these days. Than Stacy really took her time and attention to make me comfortable and feel safe while getting me ready for the doctor. She answered all my questions and let me take my time before getting settled in the chair.. Her and Dr. Nawari got me pillow, blanket, let me take breaks when I asked for them and communicated the process with me which was what I asked for. Definitely the most patient dental office I came across."
"When I saw other reviewers saying that their experience was as pleasant as possible, I thought they must be crazy. My first root canal, with a different doctor, was traumatic, and I was full of dread when I needed one again. However, Prime Endodontics really did make the experience as pleasant as possible. The staff was friendly, the chair and blanket were comfortable, and the doctor worked very quickly (I actually thought we were just taking a break or repositioning when they started to take the xrays and we were finished--it felt like it was over so much faster than the last one). There are certainly things I'd rather do than have dental work done, but if I need a root canal again, I will 100% go back to Dr. Cohenca."

"Approached my first root canal with a little anxiety. But my dentist highly recommended Dr. Cohenca -- and the experience was (almost) a pleasure! Dr. Cohenca's staff made it a relaxed, pleasurable experience (their nice multi-denominational holiday decorations contributed to that!), and the procedure itself was easier than some fillings I've had -- and COMPLETELY painless after the local anesthetic! "My dentist referred me to Dr. Cohenca to assess a toothache that I thought was related to a previous root canal from a different endodontist . He found that it was the tooth behind it causing the problem and so I needed another root canal! I was nervous to get this done again, but Dr. Cohenca and his assistant Beth were so calm and kind during the whole procedure. It really didn’t seem like it took that long. I received a text the next day to check in and he even emailed me photos of my X-rays, before and after root canal. Their clinic is really nice and open too. "When you are dealing with infection it pays to find someone you can trust to deliver excellent care, & in my experience you are in exceptional hands with Dr. Cohenca. His credentials are impressive: 29 years of clinical, research & teaching experience, expertise in dental traumatology (when bad things happen) & pediatrics (when bad things happen to kids), and a multinational and multi-lingual background — which point strongly to an abundance of knowledge, experience & developed technical (& communication) skills. But what brought me to his current practice was prior experience: 13 years ago I was treated by Dr. Cohenca at the UW following a bike and sailing accident. Back then I expected root canals to be ‘character-building:’ yet in his hands the procedure was quick, easy and the aftermath so ‘unremarkable’ (no complications then or now) that I forgot about it. So when I needed another root canal, I sought his care. This time my procedure was finished in just over an hour, I was sent home with standard aftercare instructions but less than 6 hours later woke from a nap experiencing no discomfort or pain whatsoever (note: mileage may vary, situations are unique/multi-factorial, pain subjective etc). Weeks later, I continue in the path of ‘unremarkable’ healing. The clinic displays professionalism (there’s in-built follow up in care, communication is easy & Dr. Cohenca makes himself readily available) but what stands out is a sense that Prime Endodontics is a practice founded on transparency, integrity & basic good practices founded on patient health. Having ‘trust’ issues and desire to understand I ask a lot of questions yet Dr. Cohenca and his staff took time to answer all my questions, clearly lay out what I should expect as treatment & aftermath, and I personally appreciated Dr. Cohenca’s tendency towards frankness and honest, pragmatic opinions (should you ask for them). There’s a deliberate transparency from billing (write up with a clear breakdown of what’s to be charged insurance etc) to procedure (should you choose to you can watch it take place in real time, which may in turns fascinate/ educate/ distract etc) to post-procedure assessment & management of expectations. Dr. Cohenca also shows & explains the results of his work: in my case, a lateral canal at right angles making my root system look a bit like a game of Tron, and a ‘core build-up’ smoothly built to prevent infection or trauma. Inappropriately performed procedures can lead to problems/re-treatments down the line and our current system can cause strange pressures and incentives that lead to clinical decisions not always in the patient’s best interest, so having trust in a clinician’s skill, devotion to excellence and professional integrity is key. As an established researcher & clinician & teacher Dr Cohenca seems committed to providing evidence-based care tailored to a client’s situation, to lay out treatment & expectations in a clear, open manner, and to educate and empower his patients with information. All these things build trust, and hence I would feel confident in returning should complications arise, or future treatments be needed. & that feeling of of confidence in getting good care - is priceless. p.s. One caveat: unfortunately, Dr. Cohenca's office accepts limited (i.e. not less profitable) dental insurances, hence if circumstances change and you need to change (even if temporarily) insurance, they cannot/will not accommodate/there will delimited options (i.e.: there are no payment plans or other alternatives/incentives to keep care continuity). Or at least that's the experience I had on calling the office due to a complication on a root canal treatment. This is unfortunately the reality of a private enterprise & the primary drivers/incentives of our current (many might say broken) health care/economic system. So alas, keep that in mind."

"I would like to share my positive experiences at Prime Endodontics. I developed very severe pain in my right lower molar. I was in so much pain that I could not work and went home early. My provider referred me to see Endodontist Nestor Cohenca DDS, From the moment I stepped foot inside the clinic I was welcomed by the women at the front desk. The dental assistant helped me get comfortable before the procedure began. When Nestor Cohenca came in I found him to be very positive and reassuring. He examined my teeth and explained in detail what his plan of treatment was going to be and double checked my understanding of it. Then the dental assistant asked if I wanted to listen to music during the root canal. The unavoidable loud procedure was drowned out by the “Rat Pack music I chose. I have had head sets during MRI’s but what a help to have them during an unavoidable loud procedure. I was surprised when I was told that the root canal was over and I was put on antibiotics as I had an infection. I am so very grateful that he found the infection. As an RN myself I found Nestor Cohenca to provide excellent patient education. I was put at ease and even relaxed a bit during the treatment and I believe that this was possible because of his professional and kind demeanor. He had a friendly bedside manner. After the procedure I did not have anymore pain or discomfort. I am so appreciative of how supportive and focused he and his staff were to provide excellent service and relief from my pain. "Karen at the font desk was amazing and was able to get my in same day for my intense tooth pain. They didn't have time for a full root canal but were able to go in and clean it which helped with the pain. Doctor Cohenca was very kind, patient with me and explained everything. "Dr Cohenca performed a root canal surgery on me. I had a very bad toothache and my dentist recommended Dr Cohenca as one of the best endodontists in the area to take care of the tooth. I went in dreading a painful experience and was pleasantly surprised at how easy and pain free Dr Cohenca made it for me. He did some tests and took some X rays, confirmed that I needed the root canal surgery and explained the entire process of what to expect before starting the procedure. The only mildly uncomfortable part of the surgery was the local anesthetic administration, which was expected. After that it was 45 minutes of procedure when I did not feel a thing! He even has a monitor where you can watch exactly what is being done on your tooth as the procedure happens. I was given a blanket and an IPad with noise reduction earphones and Spotify app on it so I could listen to some relaxing music during the procedure. Post operative instructions were given on a handout after surgery. My toothache was totally gone and I did not even need any painkillers post surgery during the healing process. Since he operated on me on a Friday, Dr Cohenca gave his card with cell phone number so I could contact him if needed during the weekend. He also checked on me the next day to see how I was doing. Overall I was super happy with my experience. I strongly recommend Dr Conhenca and his practice for any endodontic needs."

"Dr. Cohenca and all the staff at Prime Endodontics were excellent! From the initial consultation to my treatment, every person I had contact with was so polite, caring, patient and professional. Dr. Cohenca was extremely thorough, he took his time and explained my problem using advanced imaging and discussed my two potential treatment options in copious detail to the point where I had absolutely no questions left. Because of his expertise, I was able to have an old (approximately 17+ year old root canal which became infected) treated within few weeks of my initial consultation, using the more challenging technique for the doctor but better long term results for me. My procedure was a total success with zero complications. They were extremely calm, patient and accommodating during my slight panic attack after receiving numbing injections (this has previously occurred at my regular dentist's office during a filling and I am now realized that I have a sensitive to lidocaine with epinephrine and will plan accordingly for any future dental work). I was able to go grocery shopping and attended my dental cleaning appointments within few hours of my root canal repair with no pain, swelling or complications. They provided me with Dr. Cohenca's personal cellphone number just in case I had any post procedural complications and called to check in on me the following day. I have previously been referred to a different endodontist who told me that he would not touch my root canal unless absolutely necessary due to how old it was and how complicated treating it would be. I am so glad my dentist referred me to Dr. Cohenca who was able to perform this difficult repair without complications. "Visiting from Ohio and I had 2 teeth go bad at the same time. I have to have 2 caps done and 1 of the teeth abcessed after one of the crtowns was placed. I had to suffer over the weekend with the pain because the dentists office who did the crowns was already closed. They saw me on Monday morning and they referred me to Prime. I called them and they got me in immediately the next morning and performed a root canal. The experience was fantastic from the office staff all the way up to the medical staff. "Having a root canal is usually not something one looks forward to and even may have lots of anxiety around. My experience could not have been better. Dr. Nestor and Stephen explained everything thoroughly, were gentle and reassuring, allowed me to listen to my favorite music, and I even watched the procedure on the screen which was fascinating. I experienced no pain during the root canal and felt relief that evening with ibuprofen and icing. I did pay extra for “laughing gas” which calmed my nerves significantly. I had done it somewhere else before and the experience was not so great, that's why I hesitated for about a year until finally couldn't bear with my tooth trouble anymore. I got my root canal done 3 times with regular dentists, my last time he assured me it will be fine and I will not have any complications, 4 years later I wake up with the worst pain I have ever experienced. "I've had a root canal done before... and I was told by a dentist that I should do a extraction of my tooth as it was very painful. Dr Cohenca did a second opinion, looked at my xray and said the tooth can be saved. In one day, he came in and completely removed the infection in my tooth and filled it perfectly with no problems. It is day 2 and I feel no pain anymore and all of the infection is gone. In my previous root canal, it was very painful and they didn't seem like they knew what they were doing.. "AMAZING! I had a root canal done at my regular dentist over 5 years ago. However, there were canals and some spaces that weren't filled and bacteria has taken up residency, creating an infection, and causing me PAIN lol. Those darn bacteria. Anyways, I was referred to Dr. Cohenca and staff for endodontic retreatment. I was able to get an appointment the next day after referral and was so excited to finally get some relief. The staff are wonderful! The office is clean and visually appealing. I had a great time from start to finish. Dr. Cohenca explains everything to you to make sure you know what's going, what to expect, and so forth. With my insurance, I paid $300 out of pocket + an optional $400 for a CT scan that was not covered. The CT scan offers more details than the XR and I chose to get it for reassurance that all the nooks and crannies would be filled in order to reduce reinfection, cause the pain just sucks. AND I was also given a USB with the imaging on it so I could review it when I got home. I received a blanket and noise-cancelling headphones so I could jam out to my 90s rap playlist. There's also a live camera and you can watch the whole thing, which was SO COOL. This was the most relaxed I've felt in the past week that I was fighting not to fall asleep! OVERALL, SUCH AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE! You will be in great hands!"
"I called Dr. Cohenca's office today after enduring a weekend of excruciating pain. They were able to get me in this afternoon, which was such a relief. After locating the offending tooth, Dr. Cohenca thoroughly explained his treatment plan to me. After numbing me up, it was root canal time. It sounds strange to say, but this was the most relaxing dental procedure I've ever had (and I've had plenty). I'm used to lying in a chair, staring at bright overhead lights, and listening to cheesy soft rock music while the dentist drills away. That wasn't the case here at all. They dimmed the lights, gave me a blanket, and provided me with Spotify and noise canceling headphones. He is thorough in his work, which can be seen in the x-rays. He makes sure you are getting your money’s worth. You can tell he is an honest guy who’s giving you the correct treatment advice, even if it means leaving a tooth alone for the time being. He makes sure you’re comfortable during your treatment by giving you a blanket, dimming the lights and giving you noise canceling headphones with a tablet so you can listen to your favorite music while he and his assistant go to work. Not lying, but today during my root canal, I actually had to make a solid effort not to fall asleep - I was THAT comfortable and relaxed! Highly recommended endodontist! Oh, he also has the very latest tech in his office. Not those dated Windows 7 computers that keep hanging up!"

"Had I known root canals could so painless and comfortable I wouldn't have suffered for over a year with a cracked tooth. Dr. Cohenca and his staff really took the time to ensure I was comfortable and understood the procedure. The entire process took only about an hour and a half and Dr. Cohenca and his staff really went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable the entire time, from giving me a blanket to remembering special health issues before I could even bring them up.
